Course Reflective Narrative:. 1) What does this course contribute to your fulfillment of the MLOs?
This Course has allowed me to enhance my ability to communicate a comprehensible conversation with Japanese narratives. I have been also able to talk and write about my own travel experiences and Japanese/American cultures/tradition. I have been able to speak with superiors using the appropriate grammar such as Honorific lanaguage. And finally be able to do some formal speeches professionally at appropriate meetings/conferences.I believe this meets the MLO 1 for the major of Japanese Language and Culture.
2) What work did you complete in this learning experience/course that illustrates your development in this area? (Evidence/work you did in this course)?
Within this course time, The class has participated in daily conversations, skits with my fellow classmates, presentations such as talking about your travel experience, about custom/tradition (Japan, USA = Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.; using honorific form by introducing the speaker and daily kanji and grammar exercises.

3) What knowledge did you gain from this course that is a significant contribution/outcome for your major/this MLO? (AHA! - moment)
The most important aspect for me in this class was the daily conversations with classmates. From my return back from Japan and reanalyzing my progress from JAPN 101 to my most current courses, I feel I can significantly listen, mentally translate and understand the language much more efficiently. Seeing that flourish within real time made me feel quite confident and useful to both myself and others.
4) What area do you wish to develop further? (goals)
The area in my life I care to develop further is my communication confidence with others. I feel my conversation skills are still the weakest point in my learning Japanese. At the time I studied abroad in Nagoya, Japan. I craved to be able to speak as much as possible while I was in Japan only to result in that I could not practice enough with the natives due to everyone there wanting to learn English, too busy with there own studies or constraint with my own studies.
5) How do you intend to further explore this learning experience? (Next steps)
My biggest goal in life is to master the language of Japanese for this will be used somehow and in some way in my first major of animation. So, after I complete my time and successfully graduate from California State University of Monterey Bay, I plan to practice and exercise the following:
->*Kanji
+ Practice frequently
+ Use daily
+ Do more hand-writing instead of typing
->*Speaking and Listening
+ Studying abroad and try not use English over seas as much as possible.
+ Join student's club.
+ Spend more time with Japanese friends.
+ Take notes and memos about anything foreign.
->*Public Speaking
+ Practice daily
+ Going to a public place to be motivated to speak
+ Find/Make new/more friends
+ Speak/talk instead of listening more of the time
-> *Writing/Comprehensive Skills
+ Practice Kanji and Grammar
+ Read books (Libraries/On-line)
+ Do a tutoring side-job (Tutoring assistant)
+ Try to make a pen-pal
+ Study Abroad
