1) What does this course contribute to your fulfillment of the MLOs?
I truly appreciated this class because I was able to meet MLO 1 by enhancing my conversation and communication skills and learning so much about the culture in Japanese Literature. For example, the class read numerous and various typed of literature that included haiku, stories, and poems. This class has taught me how to construct/create poems, haiku and short stories so that the class can understand Japanese literature even closer through feeling s a opinions working together. At the same time, through learning about Japanese literature, I gained so much knowledge about the literature and the authors.
2) What work did you complete in this learning experience/course that illustrates your development in this area? (Evidence/work you did in this course)?
The class had composed individual haiku and poems, create individual story book, write book report and reflections, analyze the story, poem and haiku and discuss about the stories, literature and the authors by oneself or within a group.

3) What knowledge did you gain from this course that is a significant contribution/outcome for your major/this MLO? (AHA! - moment)
I was able to gain basic knowledge about haiku and the importance of shaping a big part of Japanese culture and was introduced to many famous and very influential haiku poets, such as Matsuo Basho. I had also learned the basic skills in creating a haiku and create a poem in Japanese. As a class, we had learned to cooperate with each other in order to understand the Japanese short stories assigned in this class.
4) What area do you wish to develop further? (goals)
I wish to further my reading comprehension skills and translation. I also care to understand grammar construction and writing skills.
5) How do you intend to further explore this learning experience? (Next steps)
My biggest goal in life is to master the language of Japanese for this will be used somehow and in some way in my first major of animation. So, after I complete my time and successfully graduate from California State University of Monterey Bay, I plan to practice and exercise the following:
In order to enhance my skills in reading comprehension, I will do my best to take up much more reading of Japanese language and stories. At the same time, I care to read out loud so I can improve my fluency, timing, intonation and speak more like a native Japanese.
I really want to be able to construct what I want to say in my speaking skills, yet I also feel that being able to write what I was to say accurately is just as important and I know that I need improvement. For me to be able to enhance this area of my learning, I feel I could do this by writing a daily journal, as long as at least 1-2 paragraphs, or making friends online and emailing or writing letters to them.
