MLO 4 - Requirement/Completed Classes
JAPN 404 - SPRING 2014
WLC 400 - WLC Major Capstone
MLO 4.1
JAPN 404 and the course WLC 400 had truly expanded my knowledge and enhanced my skills best within this MLO. WLC 400 had given the tools to be able to choose an adequate topic, use the proper and most effective ways of research and technology My capstone was about "The Heroine: a comparative study between Hayao Miyazaki and Walt Disney. I was so happy that we went through library sessions to get this started. This resource was one of the greatest to help me understand appropriate ways of proper research and be able to apply the knowledge accurately within my study
MLO 4.2
When it came to using the knowledge of Japanese culture and language for our capstone project, the course JAPN 404 I felt best prepared me to fulfill this MLO, while WLC 400 gave more insight and time to execute the capstone more effectively. JAPN 404 provided for me the more advance ways of communication and sentence structure in creating my paper and presentation. Through my study and research, my hypothesis within this chosen topic was both confirmed and astonishing in the results that challenged my study. For example, though I may have assumed that both American and Japanese students have certain and differing requirements for the heroine they want or desire, I was surprised to see how each culture is incorporated and influenced upon their own culture, yet it seems to feed off one another culture, working together and resulted in similar expectations of the desired heroine.
MLO 4.3
Throughout the course WLC 400 and JAPN 404, the class was given many opportunities and new technological resources to further our study of choice as well learn to professionalize and create a more efficient presentation. Through the courses, I used Excel, which never had before this project, to create survey based results in charts, used Google to create the survey for both the American students and Japanese students, used Powerpoint software to creat a presentation for our study that would display all our findings, research and results in a way that our audience could both understand and be intrigued. Both of these course have taught me skills that I know will serve me well and drive me ever closer to my successes through out my career in both animation and using my knowledge in the Japanese language and culture.
